Information: Drafted by the Army in the spring of 1965, enlisted US Navy that fall, ordered to WWII aircraft carrier USS Wasp (CVS-18). First assignments included practice to become proficient at cleaning urinals and endless chipping of paint! Applied and selected for Naval Air Crew Training in the Hunter, Tracker, Killer sub-hunter aircraft (S-2). As radar operator flew Cold War carrier based submarine patrol missions over Atlantic and Mediterranean in ’60’s. Transferred to land-based maritime patrol squadron and continued flying submarine patrols over Pacific in ’70’s. Selected for chief 1982, field promoted to Command Master Chief in 1998, retired May, 1999 as Command Master Chief, reserves forces nuclear aircraft carrier USS Eisenhower (CVN-69).

Honored to continue serving God through helping my local church and Evangelical Lutheran Synod in various positions, still serving my country through various veterans organizations, retired from Wisconsin Public Broadcasting 2006 and always enjoy helping others.
