

SFC Lucas R. Hendricks
SFC Lucas. R Hendricks is recognized by the Military Services Committee of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) as a Distinctive Religious Group Leader (DRGL) and is authorized to carry out spiritual tasks under the guidance of the WELS National Civilian Chaplain to the Military. This specifically applies to serving troops in the National Guard Bureau at Arlington Hall Station.
Sergeant First Class Lucas R. Hendricks is the Domestic Operations and Senior Religious Affairs Noncommissioned Officer for the National Guard Bureau Joint Chaplains Office, Arlington, Virginia. He supports the National Guard in the States and Territories with advice and training on religious support operations, especially those conducted during Defense Support of Civil Authorities operations in the homeland.
Sergeant First Class Hendricks was born in Mankato, Minnesota and was raised in Georgia. The son of a Chief Chaplain Assistant Noncommissioned Officer, Sergeant Major Richard Hendricks (United States Army Retired), he enlisted in the Minnesota Army National Guard in 2004 and attended basic combat training and chaplain assistant advanced individual training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. His initial duty assignment was with the Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 125th Field Artillery Regiment, New Ulm, Minnesota. Two years later he deployed with his unit and the rest of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, Minnesota Army National Guard, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served sixteen months in Iraq, supporting the free exercise of religion and spiritual fitness of the Soldiers assigned to the 1st Battalion, 125th Field Artillery. He also served as an unofficial distinctive faith group leader for other Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod and Evangelical Lutheran Synod members.
In 2009 he transferred to the Georgia Army National Guard and was accepted into the Title 10 Active Guard and Reserve program. His initial Title 10 assignment was with the U.S. Army Forces Command Chaplain’s Office, Fort McPherson, Georgia. His other assignments have been with the Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 214th Field Artillery Regiment, Georgia Army National Guard, and the Army National Guard Staff Chaplain’s Office, National Guard Bureau, Arlington, Virginia. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato, Minnesota in 2008. He is married to the former Regina Langhorst of Kettle River, Minnesota and they have two daughters, Carice and Makayla. He is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church (WELS), Woodbridge, Virginia, where he serves as an elder on the church council.
