Our History

Lutheran Military Support Group (LMSG) was founded by a group who felt strongly that WELS and ELS members who are currently serving or previously served in the military needed more support than was provided by the synods.  Each individual brought personal motivation and ideas, yet they were united in their goal to bring this organization to life. An important concept to all involved was that Veterans are the best at leading efforts to provide support to other Veterans.  Our tagline: “Shoulder to Shoulder in Service” embodies this vision.

Founding members included Denny Behr, LuVerne Boes, Phillip Mowry, Erhard Opsahl, John Stedman, and Pastor Paul Ziemer.
