A Veteran’s Day Message from LMSG President

10/19/2020 By swentzlaff

Greetings from the Lutheran Military Support Group (LMSG):

On November 11, we will again commemorate Veterans Day! A special day set aside annually to honor all men and women who currently serve or have served in the United States Armed Forces.

This year has presented many challenges, not the least of which has been the health problems resulting from the Covid-19/Coronavirus. It has not only caused sickness and death within our communities but also invaded our military population, congressional leaders, reaching all the way to the President of the United States. However, one of the greatest challenges for us was the restriction on corporate worship! We are thankful that the restrictions were limited in duration and, with some exceptions, we are again able to worship our Lord in church with our family of faith.
As the work in our local congregations continues, so also does the work of LMSG. To date in 2020, we used the gifts you have graciously and generously given to us to sustain the work of providing Christ-centered support to military service members, veterans, and their families. To that end, your gifts of $45,000 were used:

  • To support the National Chaplain’s Office, training Military Contact Pastors
  • The production and distribution of the Christian Service Members Handbook
  • Gifts to the Jesus Cares Ministry (JCM) which assists congregations that are near military installations who have found opportunities/plans to develop JCM on these installations

LMSG humbly requests your continued support by means of our “Ammo Can” campaign. Your church should receive more information about the campaign, I would also encourage you to visit our website at www.lutheranmilitary.org. There you will find an assortment of materials, information, and resources for veterans and others.

We at LMSG wish to extend our profound thanks for your continued support through your prayers, gifts, and continued encouragement.

In His Service,
Dave Schroeder
President
LMSG
