LMSG 2nd Annual Veteran Spiritual R&R 2019

LMSG 2nd Annual Veteran Spiritual R&R 2019

This retreat is primarily focused on those with post-traumatic stress at any level.  The Bible studies, discussion, activities, and worship will target this spiritual enemy.

The wounds of war run deep; especially the ones unseen, in the heart and mind. The bonds forged in battle cannot be broken. Guilt is real and relentless. Christian warriors come together to hear God’s grace and mercy that binds what is broken, heals what hurts, and destroys the spiritual enemy.

When and Where: May 3-5 2019 at Camp Phillip-Wautoma, Wisconsin.

ACTIVITY DETAILS

Fellowship – This will give an opportunity to share experiences with fellow brothers and sisters in Jesus who have experienced similar circumstance and who share the unseen wounds of war on the heart and soul.  God loves it when his people come together and promises to be with his people when they come together.

The Spiritual Life  Discussion will allow participants to share their experiences and the spiritual dimension of PTS will be the primary focus.  You will receive a copy of Luther’s “Christians Can Be Soldiers” to be read prior to the retreat and will be used for discussion. Bible study will help to focus on the matter of guilt and the spiritual matters associated with it.  A Christian counselor will discuss matters related to mental health and you will learn more about veterans helping each other.

Physical Activity This was added at the request of the participants from our previous year.  Camp Phillip provides a wonderful, natural setting for outdoor activities (weather permitting).  Plan on a hike, run/jog, playing catch (bring a glove), disc golf, or whatever you might be interested in or you are able to do.

Worship   There will be devotions that help focus on God’s promises during our time together. Major worship will feature a service of Confession and Absolution, in which we will be reminded of the great truths of forgiveness learned in the Catechism.  Sunday morning will feature the full Divine Service with the Sacrament of the Altar. Worship will be led by Pastor Jason Hacker.
